Commerce begins with recognition. Before an object may be exchanged, transported, financed, stewarded, restored, or preserved, it must possess a stable identity.
Mercantile Recordation is the constitutional registry through which inventory becomes identifiable, traceable, and accountable. It is not merely bookkeeping. It preserves the continuity upon which custody, movement, valuation, exchange, and retirement depend.
Admission and Inventory
Admission establishes that an inventory unit is eligible to participate in the Mercato system. The unit receives a persistent constitutional identifier connected to its classification, provenance, initial custodian, admission date, governance protocols, and supporting references.
Admission begins the constitutional record, not the existence of the object.
Recordante does not constitute the inventory it records. It recognizes an existing unit and establishes the continuity necessary for that unit to participate in mercantile operations.
Inventory units bind according to what they are. Recordation preserves their identity, relationships, and history without requiring the registry to redefine them.
Constitutional Invariants
Each inventory unit retains stable invariants throughout its operational life:

Lineage continuity
These invariants survive transport, exchange, restoration, division, combination, and changes of custody or jurisdiction.
Movement may change circumstance. It must never erase identity.
Constitutional Events
Recordante preserves changes in standing, custody, relationship, and disposition as constitutional events rather than isolated transactions.
Admission — Ingresso
Entry into mercantile jurisdiction and commencement of the constitutional record.
Exit — Uscita
Authorized departure from mercantile jurisdiction without loss of recorded identity or provenance.
Seal — Sigillo
Placement into protected custody or closure of an operational cycle under established authority.
Distribution — Distribuzione
Authorized release into circulation and legitimate movement through the Federation.
Exchange — Scambio
Transfer of possession, stewardship, responsibility, access rights, or economic value without loss of identity.
Passage — Passaggio
Regulated transfer between custodians, engines, domains, or other recognized points of responsibility.
Division
Separation of a recorded unit into constituent or successor units while preserving lineage to the originating record.
Combination
Formation of a lot, assembly, or other composite unit with durable references to its constituents.
Return to Custody
Re-entry into protected stewardship while preserving the continuity of the intervening record.
Retirement / Archive
Conclusion of active mercantile participation without destruction of the permanent record.
Together, these events produce a continuous constitutional history rather than a succession of anonymous transactions.
Stewardship
Custodians preserve inventory. Recordante preserves continuity.
Possession may change repeatedly, but the constitutional record remains singular and coherent. Stewardship therefore includes faithful preservation of identity, provenance, custody, and history for those who subsequently encounter the unit.
A transfer does not erase what preceded it. Nor does prior custody indefinitely appropriate what has been transferred.
The record preserves continuity while allowing stewardship to pass.

The operational sequence is:

The sequence does not manufacture the identity of what moves through it. It establishes differentiated places of arrival, custody, witness, recordation, clearance, and exchange through which identity can remain legible while circumstance changes.
